A Ritual Retreat with Liv Mokai Wheeler
April 9-16, 2020 · São Miguel Island, Portugal
As I went into a deep space of listening to receive the vision, the messages from the otherworld of which they wished to convey for our ritual gathering happening in the Azores, I heard nothing. Silence was there. Then I listened more deeply and I received what they were expressing to me.
The purpose we are gathering for is to listen.
I felt a kind of vulnerability in my humanness, as though suddenly naked. And I realized that this too was what they were expressing through me as a message to you.
That's how they feel currently, vulnerable.
We gather to listen. To feel. To finally receive the guidance that we've already been sensing through our prescience. We gather as women, as the feminine of the earth prepared to listen. Because let's face it, if the divine is still referred to even in spiritual communities largely as the masculine form, we have work to do. Because, indeed the divine also lives inside of the woman's body.
May we remember, we too are holy.
The feminine of the earth is being dreamed by the earth, as they show. It's important for us to gather to share our dreams with each other so as to have a more complete picture.
We gather as dreamers of the earth.
Humble hearts who are feeling called, please make your voice heard. This story cannot be told without you.
Liv Mokai Wheeler
We are coming together to listen to the Earth. We will gather as the feminine prepared to listen to Gaia. We will make way for the feminine, make way for the mystery.
The main facilitator, Liv Mokai Wheeler, has created a ritual retreat for women to gather with the specific intention of listening to Mother Earth.
We will gather for community circles, ceremony, and ritual with Liv Mokai. We will have the opportunity to sit in ceremony and council with the Kontomble. And we’ll also be in ritual with the Kontomble who will connect us with Gaia so that we may hear from her directly.
We will come together so as to cultivate and celebrate our alignment with Mother Earth and the beings of nature through an honoring ceremony for the Earth itself. We will make ample and regal offerings, asking nothing in return; rather, we will show up to honor, to give, to listen, to humble ourselves to the stories that they reveal to us and tell through us.
Additionally, we will come together for a voice healing circle in an effort to reclaim our connection to the unique frequency of our authentic voice. We will also take a journey out to sea so as to connect with and honor the Whales. And we will engage in ceremony in nature while we deepen into the sacred dialogue and continue to feed the relations with Spirit and the Earth with reciprocity. During the ritual retreat, a second documentary film will be created by Emmy Wu as well.
This is an open and safe space for all that identify in some way as feminine or female. It is not she/her exclusive and we welcome all expressions of what feminine means to you.
Quinta do Bom Despacho
We will be gathering just outside of Ponta Delgada, São Miguel. The manor house that will be our home for the duration of our journey is a recently refurbished historic estate that was originally built in the seventeenth century. With a fusion of preserved Portuguese architectural charm and the warmth and ease of a few modern touches, the estate is now managed as an eco-lodge with lush gardens, green houses, orchards, an orange grove, and a natural swimming pond. Through the way in which they steward the land, the care-takers have focused on preserving the sanctity of the island, Portuguese culture, and the species of animals and plants native to the Azorian Isles.
We’ve chosen Quinta do Bom Despacho to be our home during the ritual retreat because it is a space that will naturally connect us to and immerse us in the magic of this sacred archipelago. It is a place of inherent tranquility that grants us the freedom to unwind, emote, and gather authentically. It will be a safe place where we will be held and supported while we engage in our deep healing and ceremonial work and ritual as well.
Additionally, a Portuguese chef will be cooking our meals. As such, we will be able to experience the culture and hospitality of the Azores and their traditions through food and nourishment. Much of the vegetables, herbs, and eggs that we are to enjoy will also come directly from the land and home that is holding us.
Sleeping arrangements will be assigned and we will each be sharing rooms or beds with another community member. Upon registration, you will be given the opportunity to express your preferences in how you’ll be assigned a space.
The Majesty of the Azores
The Azores are an archipelago in the North Atlantic Ocean. They are comprised of nine volcanic islands off of the coast of Portugal. São Miguel, also known as The Green Island, is the largest of the Isles of the Azores and is renowned for its verdant beauty and majestic natural landscape that includes volcanic craters, geothermal lakes, basalt beaches, and richly varied flora and marine life. The waters surrounding the islands are the year-round homes of sperm whales and part of the migratory paths for blue, sei, and humpback whales and many species of dolphins as well.
The Azores are also said to be connected to the lost island of Atlantis. Indeed, there are many stories about the islands and their mystical nature that center around Atlantis in addition to the presence of other varied yet mysterious ancient civilizations as well. Throughout the islands there are megalithic structures, underground tunnels, and pyramids that mysteriously align with the sun at solstice. There is also an underwater pyramid off of the coast of São Miguel that is believed to have been underwater for 20,000 years and is linked in both direction and design to the pyramids of ancient Egypt.
Moreover, Kontomble have been speaking about the activation of the pyramids by the feminine quite a lot. And we will ultimately gather to listen to the beings of this majestic, magical land and the stories that they wish to share with us.

Liv Mokai Wheeler is a Kontomble Voice Diviner, a voice for the "little people," and international ritual facilitator. She trained and apprenticed for 8 years with Malidoma Some (author, PhD, West African Shaman). During that time, she made many pilgrimages to Burkina Faso, West Africa. Liv’s practice has been working with people individually as well as facilitating healing in community for 14 years. Her work has brought her both into national and the international communities where she facilitates group divination rituals. She tours the world facilitating ritual reminding people of their true nature, which is deeper than our modern selves would have us believe.
For the past few years, Liv has been working with friends and researchers to help uncover the stories and memories of the "little people" around the world. In 2018, in addition to publishing her first book, With the Love of the Ancients: My Spiritual Journey of Remembering, she also produced a feature-length documentary entitled The Remembering that released in January of 2019.
Carol Mae Whittick
Carol Mae Whittick is a musician and creatrix of HER Conversations podcast and HER Life Academy. HER is an acronym for Higher Energetic Resonance and the ethos of HER is supporting the elevation of women.
As a singer Carol understands the transformative and empowering effects of reclaiming the command of your authentic voice. It equips you with the ability to move stuck emotions and initiate healing from deep trauma with yourself, which then builds self-esteem and the confidence to venture into deeply connecting with others.
Whether you are speaking or singing, communicating from this place of personal truth means that your deep intentions are felt and as you witness your effect on your environment you come to truly understand the mission you have in this incarnation.
Carol will be holding a circle offering deep vocal work. It is her desire that each participant experiences the power of her own unique sound frequency both for self-healing and for offering her voice to the world. (www.carolmaewhittick.com).
Florencia Barolin, LMT, is a medicine woman, healer, and body worker. Fifteen years ago she experienced a turning point that completely shifted her view of the world and of herself, revealing her gift and purpose, when she healed herself from cancer through a holistic approach. Since then she has dedicated her life to serving others and sharing the medicine she has harvested from her own personal deep work as well as from having studied with many great teachers.
Her healing work and approach with community is characterized by intuitive listening and a profound respect for each person’s innate wisdom to heal themselves while she guides as a sacred space holder in which deep emotional release, transformation, and healing takes place amidst unconditional love, kindness, and care. Flo will be joining us to help support the community and process and also aide in clearing energy and entities. She is in deep connection with the whales as well.
Since the age of twelve, Natalie started her journey towards spiritual healing as a result of being exposed to various spiritual teachers and healers. Since then, she has developed a stronger and deeper connection with spirit in her own unique way and continues to build on that relationship. Natalie also learned many skills while obtaining a master’s degree in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies. She recently completed her certification as an Emotion Code Practitioner as well. She believes in the power of being held by community and allowing for true healing to occur between one another. Natalie will be present at the ritual retreat to support the community and process as a whole. (www.tendingyourspirit.com).
Sylvie is what she would call a student of life and Spirit with a love and reverence for movement, herbalism, Gaelic folk tradition traced through song, and the beings of the Otherworld including the Fey and the Little People of the Earth. As a result of finding recovery from an eating disorder, she began to sense and connect with humanity and the worlds in a different way. She has since been on the path of rediscovering what it is to truly live, to feed life, and to deepen into a more authentic expression of what it means to her to walk with Spirit most deeply by studying with and supporting Liv. She is both excited and honored to be supporting the ritual retreat as gatekeeper for Liv and a being helping to hold the process and community before and during the gathering.
Emmy Wu is a storyteller & editor who helps help visionary change-makers and retreat facilitators to reach more people and change more lives, with inspiring video content. Emmy will be both shooting the film and also journeying with us during the ritual retreat.
With over 15 years of experience in the film industry, she has worked with professional and broadcast cameras long before high definition came into existence. She’s helped clients like MGM and Paramount Pictures bring their vision to life on the big screen, but found her passion in telling stories that help to make this world a better place.
Led by intuition and driven by data, she believes that film and video are the most powerful mediums for sharing what we know, and creating positive change. When we educate, inspire, and connect through stories, we build deeper relationships with the planet, others, and ourselves. (www.emmywu.com).
